On February 25, 2025 the Louisiana Christian University Board of Trustees elected Dr. Mark Johnson as the 10th president of the university.

The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Board of Trustees sends our congratulations to Dr. Johnson on his election.

Dr. Johnson has served faithfully on the faculty of our seminary as assistant professor of evangelism and pastoral ministry since 2020.

Dr. Johnson has been a committed churchman since arriving in New Orleans, serving as pastor and interim pastor for several churches all while remaining committed to his academic pursuits and his teaching responsibilities at NOBTS.

Dr. Johnson has exemplified the NOBTS commitment to servant leadership throughout his career at NOBTS and long before.

Dr. Johnson served ably as a pastor in New Jersey and Ohio before moving to New Orleans, in particular as the Senior Pastor of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as pastor there for ten years, leading the church to join the Southern Baptist Convention and becoming an active sending and planting church in the region.

We are confident that Dr. Johnson and his wife Heather will continue this commitment to service in the years ahead as Dr. Johnson assumes the presidency of Louisiana Christian University.

The trustees, administration, faculty, and the rest of the NOBTS and Leavell College family commit to praying for Dr. Johnson as he leads LCU. We pray for many years of fruitful ministry there and wish the Johnson family great success.

This letter of commendation has been approved and adopted by the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Board of Trustees at their April 16, 2025 meeting.
